Blake’s baby talk! Blake Shelton is finally explaining that hilarious photo he took with Christina Aguilera’s daughter, Summer Rain. The newly single country star joked about why the 14-month-old looked miserable in his arms during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
“You know, I’m not good with babies. I just haven’t quite gotten the hang [of it],” Shelton, 39, explained to host Meyers.
He added: “I like babies! I just don’t want to drop one. That’s all I’m saying.”
Earlier this month, the Voice coach posed with Summer Rain for what was supposed to be a cute Instagram snapshot. Miranda Lambert’s ex-husband joked that he was basically forced to take the pic by Aguilera’s fiancé, Matt Rutler.
“Matt, which is [Christina’s] baby daddy, came up and was like, ‘Will you take this picture?’ I was like, ‘Man. I mean, I guess.’ I mean, I have clearly been drinking in that picture. So, I’m like, ‘Are you sure you want me?’ Like, I’m not the guy,” Shelton recalled to Meyers.
“The baby senses that a little bit. I don’t want to hurt the baby and I could fall in that picture probably,” he continued. “I will say, those two make some good-looking babies. That’s probably not her best picture. Normally she’s adorable and has a cute smile and beautiful eyes.”
The “Beautiful” singer and Rutler welcomed their baby girl in August 2014. Aguilera also shares 7-year-old son Max with her ex-husband, Jordan Bratman.
