Bobby Bones Wants His ‘DWTS’ Trophy Mailed Back to Him After Burying the Hatchet With Tom Bergeron (Exclusive)

Bobby Bones regrets getting rid of his Dancing With the Stars trophy now that he’s made up with former host Tom Bergeron.

“It’d be nice if I could get my Dancing With the Stars trophy back,” Bones, 46, exclusively told Us Weekly while discussing his podcast, Bobby Bones Presents: The BOBBYCAST, now airing on Netflix.

Bones, who won DWTS season 27 in 2018 alongside partner Sharna Burgess, mailed his Mirrorball trophy back to ABC in November 2025 after Bergeron, 71, told Parade that he was “shocked” by the radio host’s victory. Bones said in a subsequent TikTok video that he found Bergeron’s comment “hurtful.”

“I didn’t even wanna be on the show,” Bones recalled in his video. “I had no intention of being on Dancing with the Stars. I was working on a different show at the network, they asked me to go on the show to promote. Am I supposed to not show up and work hard? Am I supposed to not give it freaking everything that I have? Am I supposed to, like, throw it and not win?”

He continued, “Like, what did I do? I had a great attitude. I worked hard, and here we are, like six years later, I’m still catching strays out of nowhere. So, I sent the trophy back. They don’t want me to be a part of the show, obviously. So I don’t wanna be somewhere that doesn’t want me to be there.”

Bergeron later apologized to Bones during a March appearance on the latter’s podcast.

“I felt terrible that the way I phrased my honest surprise at your win,” Bergeron told Bones. “I think the question to me was, ‘What’s the most shocking elimination?’ I couldn’t remember a shocking elimination. And I wish I had said, ‘Well, this wasn’t a shock, but it was a surprise when Bobby Bones won.’”

Reflecting on his reaction to Bergeron’s initial interview, Bones told Us that he had just undergone surgery at the time and was “probably not my best.”

“I got my feelings hurt. And so, since that time, when I had my feelings hurt by Tom Bergeron, we’ve talked, and we’re great again,” he continued. “I love Tom, and so, in a haste, I sent my trophy back to somewhere at ABC. I do not know where the trophy is. I like that trophy. If anybody’s watching this that has my Mirrorball trophy, please mail it back to me. I would love to have it back.”

Recalling how he buried the hatchet with Bergeron, Bones said he was a guest on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s “Off the Vine” podcast when he noticed that Bergeron had DM’d him. The pair then set up Bergeron’s appearance on Bones’ podcast, where they immediately resolved their drama.

“He came on, and the first thing that I said was, ‘Hey, man, why do you hate me now?’” Bones explained to Us. “And I think just saying that early kind of made us both go like, ‘OK, we’re good.’ We talked it out. He apologized, and then I apologized for making him apologize. We cried. It was really great.”

Bones, who is most known for hosting The Bobby Bones Show on iHeartRadio, also opened up to Us about his new podcast deal with Netflix.

“What’s cool about the Netflix deal is people [who] I know don’t listen to my podcast, will say, ‘I saw your face on the front of Netflix.’ Like, that’s been kind of the new reach of it,” he shared. “So, it’s been a really great opportunity. They’ve been such a great partner, and we’ve been able to get such bigger guests. Like, honestly, the cool thing about it is I still get to do what I do … but now big guests are coming to us instead of us just begging on hands and knees to get them.”
