Britney Spears’ dad, Jamie Spears, made a rare appearance in a wheelchair at his granddaughter’s graduation over the weekend, two years after having his right leg amputated.

Jamie, 73, was spotted wearing a gray suit as he sat with his family at Maddie’s high school graduation on Friday, May 8, in photos published by Page Six. His ex-wife, Lynne Spears, was also in attendance, as well as daughter Jamie Lynn Spears, her husband Jamie Watson, and their daughter Ivey, 8.

Jamie Lynn, 35, could be seen crying in the audience as the proud mom snapped photos of Maddie, 17, during the ceremony. (The Zoey 101 alum shares Maddie with ex-fiancé Casey Aldridge.)

Though Britney, 44, was not present at her niece’s graduation, her son Sean Preston, 20, was there to cheer on his cousin. He sported a white T-shirt, black pants and an earbud in one ear as he held up a small photo cutout of Maddie wearing a grad cap. The sign read, “Look who’s graduated.”

Sean Preston’s brother, 19-year-old Jayden James, was also missing from the event. (Britney shares her two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline.)

At one point, Ivey could be seen pushing her grandfather’s wheelchair through the crowd with her mom and grandmother walking behind them.

The family outing came more than two years after Jamie — who was removed as Britney’s conservator in November 2021 — was hospitalized with an infection in October 2023. Two months later, it was reported that the retired construction business owner had his right leg amputated.

Jamie previously faced health issues in 2019 when he underwent two emergency surgeries for a ruptured colon.

Two months before Maddie’s graduation, Us Weekly confirmed that Britney had been arrested for driving under the influence near her home in Ventura County, California.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” Britney’s rep said in a statement to Us on March 5. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

Britney voluntarily went into a treatment center in April and was officially charged with a DUI later that month. The “Toxic” singer’s attorney appeared in court for her arraignment on May 4 and pleaded guilty on her behalf to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol known as “wet reckless driving.” Britney’s DUI charge was dismissed in a plea deal, Us confirmed.

Britney was sentenced to 12 months of probation and one day in jail, with credit for the time she spent in custody. She is also required to complete a DUI class and pay $571 in state-mandated fees. According to the deal, Britney must see a psychologist once a week and a psychiatrist twice a month.
