Hmmm, doesn’t ring a bell. Britney Spears said in a new interview that she’d like to spend some alone time with Taylor Swift since she “[hasn’t] met her” — although, in fact, she previously met the “Shake It Off” singer, 26, two different times.

During a Sunday, July 31, chat with Australia’s Kyle & Jackie O Show, Spears, 34, was asked if she’d rather hang out with Swift or the 1989 hitmaker’s nemesis Katy Perry: “Who would you rather sit next to on a 24-hour flight to Sydney, Taylor Swift or Katy Perry?”
“I don’t know! I don’t know, that’s hard,” the pop superstar replied. “They’re both so cool, I don’t know.”
“I’ve briefly met Katy Perry at the Smurfs [2] movie premiere [in 2011],” she added. “Maybe because I’ve met Katy Perry, I would say Taylor Swift, because I’ve never met her before.”

While Spears recalled getting face time with Perry (who cowrote the “Make Me” songstress’ 2013 track “Passenger”), the memory of meeting Swift seemingly slipped her mind.
As fans of the chart-toppers are well aware, the pair snapped several pics together in 2008 when Spears swept the MTV Video Music Awards with big wins for her “Piece of Me” video. And as various Taylor Swift fan sites have pointed out, the former country starlet met Spears in 2003 when she was about 14 years old. A throwback photo of Spears — in her “Toxic” days — and a young Swift recently made its way around the internet.
Though Swift failed to make an impression during her two brief encounters with Spears, the mom of two told E! News that she is a Swifty at heart during an August 2015 interview.
“I love Taylor Swift,” Spears said. “I think she’s adorable. I love her music. Her music makes me so happy. She’s very level-headed. She’s a very, very smart girl, very wise.”
In a 2009 MySpace post, Swift expressed her unremitting veneration of the former teen idol.
“While I was in L.A. my mom reorganized my bathroom … But then I turned around and was startled by something … Where was my Britney Spears poster … No, this can’t be right … WHERE is it?!? I searched the room frantically for a few seconds before finding its new spot,” she wrote at the time. “My Britney Spears poster (from 6th grade) had been relocated to my bedroom, which is another AMAZING upgrade. This way, I see it more often and it more proudly displays my unwavering devotion to Britney Spears.”
