Camille Grammer allegedly received an unsympathetic message from ex-husband Kelsey Grammer following their split.
“When you asked me if [he said] I’m sorry or remorse … he sent me a text saying, ‘I feel no remorse for what I am doing,’” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 57, claimed on the Monday, May 18, episode of Cynthia Bailey and Crystal Kung Minkoff’s “Humble Brag” podcast. “And that was very harsh because I was very much in love with him and I believed he was very much in love with me. We did have very many good years in our marriage and a lot of fun times.”
Camille added that she and Kelsey, 71, have not spoken in “14 years” and do not have a working coparenting relationship. The exes share daughter Mason, 24, and son Jude, 21. (The actor is also father to daughter Spencer, 42, whom he welcomed with ex-wife Doreen Alderman, daughter Greer, 34, whom he shares with ex Barrie Buckner and daughter Faith, 13, as well as sons Kelsey Gabriel, 11, Auden, 9, and Christopher, 7 months, with current wife Kayte Walsh.)
“He called it parallel parenting and that’s what it was like,” Camille said of how she and Kelsey have raised their kids as individuals post-split.
Camille and Kelsey tied the knot in 1997. During the early years of marriage, Camille was by Kelsey’s side as he starred on Frasier, which ended in 2004. In 2010, Camille and Kelsey split. She ultimately joined the cast of RHOBH as one of the original housewives. The inaugural season documented Kelsey and Camille’s tumultuous separation. The pair finalized their divorce in 2011. Camille remained on the show for three years.
“I did come into his orbit, so I understand that. But I became friends with a lot of people in his orbit,” Camille said on Monday. “And I also helped him keep it together … I’m not responsible for his sobriety, he’s responsible for his sobriety but I helped him and held his hand through it. It wasn’t easy.”
Camille added that while navigating life post-divorce, she felt like Kelsey would “bash” her as much as he could up until “a few years ago.”
“I think Kelsey would have been happy for me to just fade away,” she said, “But then no, here I am and now I can defend myself.”
Camille also expressed her sympathies for any Housewife who has to navigate a divorce while filming the Bravo series.
“I feel bad for every woman going through divorce that people watch [on] these shows and defend the ex-husband. I hate that,” she said. “Not all these ladies are perfect … but we’re still moms and we have children.”
