See you l8er? Chad Kroeger was spotted outside the L.A. home he and Avril Lavigne share on Wednesday, Sept. 2, packing up a car with a few personal belongings just hours after the “Sk8er Boi” singer announced their split via Instagram.
Among the items the 40-year-old Nickelback frontman loaded into the back of the car: two guitars, a few boxes, and a fan. An unidentified young woman helped Kroeger move his belongings into the vehicle.
Kroeger also appeared to be ringless during the move — an observation that he’s blasted the press about in the past.
“You know what? They come off,” he told ET Canada last November when asked about why he would sometimes step out without his wedding band. “And they go back on and then come off and then go back on. What does that mean?”
Us Weekly was first to report that his marriage with Lavigne, 30, was on the rocks last September.
“It’s over,” a source told Us at the time. “He has been going around L.A. telling people that they are divorcing.”
Kroeger popped the question to his pop punk princess in August 2012 after dating for just a month, and the pair exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony in the South of France in July 2013.
On Wednesday, however, Lavigne revealed to fans that her relationship with Kroeger had gotten complicated.
“It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today,” she captioned a photo on Instagram. “Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we’ve created many unforgettable memories. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply or each other. To our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support.”
Lavigne was married once before, to Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2010. The pair called it quits on their relationship, and Lavigne went on to date Brody Jenner for nearly two years before they split in January 2012.
