Charles Manson’s Future Mother-in-Law Says Mass Murderer Loves Her Daughter

Charles Manson and Elaine Burton, aka Star
Charles Manson's future mother-in-law Melissa Burton opened up about her 26-year-old daughter Afton Burton's impending nuptials to the 80-year-old incarcerated mass murderer -- does she approve?

Melissa Burton won't be breaking bread with her future son-in-law Charles Manson anytime soon, but, surprisingly, she does approve of her daughter marrying the incarcerated mass murderer. Burton, whose daughter Afton Burton is set to wed Manson, opened up about the couple during an interview with ABC News on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

The Bunker Hill, Ill. resident revealed that Afton, who also goes by Star, moved out to California seven years ago to be closer to Manson's prison. She was first intrigued by his environmental work.

"It's a different situation. But my daughter is smart. She plans out what she wants to do," Burton told ABC News. "She's come to love him."

Afton, 26, and Manson, 80, who has been behind bars since 1970 after orchestrating the murder of pregnant actress Sharon Tate and six others, obtained their marriage license on Nov. 7. Although Melissa gives her blessing, she will not be in attendance when Afton walks down the aisle.

"It's going to happen. She [Afton] doesn't know when. It's up to the prison to give the date," she explained. "She doesn't live close to us. We can't be there for her."

Melissa has never met Manson — and doesn't expect to.
