Kiss and tell! Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor stole the show with their major makeout session at the 2015 American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 22 — so much so that people are still talking about it two days later.
“I mean, the reaction has been insane. I’m getting followed everywhere,” Puth, 23, tells Us Weekly of the steamy kiss he shared with his “Marvin Gaye” duet partner, 21.
Indeed, Twitter was abuzz after the passionate liplock, which left many fans wondering whether the “See You Again” crooner and the “All About That Bass” hitmaker might be more than just friends. Puth insists, however, that there’s nothing romantic between them.
“We’re best friends!” he tells Us. “That’s another person I can relate to and I ask for advice with everything. We’re really great friends and that’s never going to change.”
As for the kiss? “It was Meghan’s [idea], actually,” Puth dishes.
“That was all planned,” he explains. “When I wrote ‘Marvin Gaye,’ the original intention was to make a record that people could just dance to and fall in love to or have sex to immediately upon hearing it.”

Puth and Trainor shared a smooch while filming the music video, too, but you don’t actually see it on camera. (The video ends just as they’re leaning in.)
“It kind of ties the whole performance together, me locking lips with M. Train,” he tells Us.
Puth’s upcoming album, Nine Track Mind, is out Jan. 29.
