Charlie Sheen’s second ex-wife, Denise Richards, has known for years that he’s HIV-positive, Us Weekly can confirm.
The Two and a Half Men actor, 50, and Richards, 44, divorced in 2006 after four years of marriage. They are parents of daughters Sam, 11, and Lola, 10. (Richards adopted her third daughter, Eloise, in August 2012.)
An insider tells Us that Richards and her children are not HIV-positive. In addition, Sheen “got infected after they were together, four years ago or so.” (Richards’ rep had no comment on the matter.)
The Anger Management alum and Richards recently celebrated Sam’s birthday back in March. The exes and their daughters posed for a cute photo together at Barton G. restaurant in Miami Beach, Fla. “Sami’s birthday dinner!” Richards captioned the Instagram snapshot. “@Barton_G fun & delish!”
As previously reported, Sheen plans to address his health condition during a Today show interview on Tuesday, Nov. 17. The controversial actor is also dad of daughter Cassandra, 30, with ex-girlfriend Paula Profit, and twins Bob and Max, 6, with his third ex-wife, Brooke Mueller. (Us Weekly has reached out to Mueller’s rep amid the news, but Mueller, 38, has declined to comment.)
Sheen has had a tumultuous couple of years. He was fired from the CBS comedy Two and a Half Men in 2011, and checked into rehab in 2010 and 2011. In June 2012, he opened up about his rehab stints.
“[Rehab] is just not for me,” he said during an interview on Good Morning America. “We live in a country where it’s always Miller time. What are you gonna do? It’s happy hour somewhere in the world.”
