Her Juan and only! Bachelor host Chris Harrison reacted to Nikki Ferrell‘s engagement news during The Bachelor Live broadcast on Monday, January 4, and appeared to throw some shade at her ex-boyfriend and season 18 Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis.
Ferrell, 29, announced on Instagram — hours before Ben Higgins‘ season 20 premiere of The Bachelor — that she was happily engaged to her boyfriend, Tyler Vanloo. “And on the last day of vacation this happened!” Ferrell captioned a photo of Vanloo presenting her with a ring.
Longtime host Harrison, 44, congratulated the Kansas City–based pediatric nurse on the special moment during the inaugural episode of Bachelor Live. “Nikki Ferrell is engaged,” Harrison noted to the audience. “She finally got the engagement she always dreamed of.”
Though Ferrell won season 18 of ABC’s smash reality competition series, Galavis didn’t propose; in fact, he refused to profess his love for her during the mortifying “After the Final Rose” special, soliciting backlash from Bachelor fans everywhere.

After seven months of dating and a dramatic stint on VH1’s Couples Therapy, Ferrell eventually broke things off with Galavis in October 2014. “Everything Nikki wanted, he didn’t,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “She wanted to settle down and he didn’t.”
On Instagram, Ferrell hinted that she had squandered her time on a hopeless relationship. “Isn’t it pathetic how we waste so much time on certain people and in the end they prove that they weren’t even worth a second of it,” she wrote at the time of her split from Galavis.
Luckily, she found love in the arms of Vanloo in 2015. “I can’t wait to marry my best friend,” Ferrell shared with fans on Monday. “Over the moon happy right now!”
