Maybe Liam Hemsworth will follow in his older brother's footsteps now? During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, Sept. 17, Chris Hemsworth, 30, chatted with host Ellen DeGeneres about how his younger brother's relationship with now ex-fiancee Miley Cyrus attracted him undue attention.
"He seems to get lots and lots of attention as far as paparazzi and partially that was because of the relationship that he's been in," DeGeneres noted.
"Yeah," Chris agreed.
"You don't have that kind of paparazzi frenzy around you right now, do you?" the host asked.
"I'm lucky. I've spoken to a few people about it. I don't know that you can ever . . . It's sort of is what it is. At times you're a target and at times you're not. If you have a film coming out or who you are dating and what have you . . . but um, we've been lucky, my wife and I," the Rush actor explained of his wife Elsa Pataky. (The spouses of nearly three years are parents to daughter India, 16 months.) "We kind of live a pretty simple boring kind of life. We're not rolling out of clubs at 4 in the morning. Not to say that Liam is by the way . . . I mean he has once or twice," Chris joked.
Indeed, one of Liam's late night outings may be to blame for the end of his relationship with Cyrus, 20. (A rep for the "We Can't Stop" singer confirmed to Us on Monday, Sept. 16, that Cyrus and Liam, 23, had called off their engagement after three years of dating.)
As revealed in the Sept. 23 issue of Us Weekly, the Hunger Games actor was pursuing Mad Men star January Jones as his relationship with Cyrus crumbled in recent months. The two were first linked in February after being spotted leaving West Hollywood hotspot Chateau Marmont together. Their infatuation continued into the summer, and the Paranoia actor sent Jones, 35-year-old single mom of son Xander, 2, a graphic, sexual text message.
But Liam's split from the rebellious former Disney star seemed like a long time coming. In April, a source told Us that Liam's actor brothers Chris and Luke staged an intervention. "They want him to end the romance for good," a source told Us at the time.
And Liam and Cyrus now apparently feel the same way. "She wants nothing to do with him, and vice versa," an insider told Us. "It's bad."
