Christina Grimmie’s funeral will be held on Friday, June 17, the Associated Press reports. The 22-year-old singer was shot and killed by a fan during a meet and greet in Orlando on Friday, June 10.
According to the AP, a viewing will be held on Friday at Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford, New Jersey, with a memorial service following later that night. The funeral will be a private ceremony for family and close friends.
Hundreds of fans, along with her family members, gathered in Evesham, New Jersey, on Monday night for a hometown vigil.
During the candlelight vigil, the Voice alum’s brother Marcus — who tackled the gunman after he shot her — spoke about his younger sister.
“Christina was awesome,” Marcus told attendees at Evesham Memorial Sports Complex. “She loved this town, she loved this state, she loved singing, she loved the Lord and she loved me. She was my baby sister.”
Marcus also addressed the tragic shooting that occurred in Orlando on Sunday, June 12.
“I have no words … I had five people fly out [to Orlando], my mom and dad — people bought them plane tickets. Adam Levine paid for Christina’s funeral. … Selena [Gomez] is singing a song and crying. … These people didn’t have that,” he said of the 49 clubgoers who died at Pulse nightclub. “And we’re blessed too, so I’m at a great peace right now. She’s in a better place.”
Levine was Grimmie’s coach on season 6 of The Voice. She finished in third place.
