Lamar Odom is headed back to Los Angeles, but this time with the city's other basketball team: the L.A. Clippers.

A source tells Us Weekly that the NBA star, 32, is "officially joining the L.A. Clippers" — meaning he and his wife of three years, Khloe Kardashian, will get to remain in Los Angeles near her family.

"Looks like the deal is done and Lamar is a Clipper," the insider says. "He and Khloe are so excited! This is just what they wanted."

Adds the source, "Lamar is so relieved. Now they can be with family and work on starting their own family."

On Friday, insiders told the Associated Press that Odom was part of a three-team deal between the Dallas Mavericks, Clippers, and Utah Jazz. Now that it's official, he'll be playing once again for the team that drafted him back in 1999.

In December 2011, Odom was traded from the Lakers to the Mavericks, though he was dropped just four months later after he failed to perform.

Staying in Los Angeles will mean a lot more than a career boost and extra family time for the NBA forward — it also means that he and Kardashian, 28, will be able to make starting a family of their own a priority.

"They really want to have a baby and are trying everything," an insider confided to Us Weekly in May. "Now that they're back home . . . they can work on that more. Privately."

Earlier this month, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star began fertility treatments at an L.A. clinic.
