Now that's a public display of affection! A couple at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in southern France was caught having sex on the red carpet on Monday, June 22, as evidenced in a Twitter photo shared by one bystander.
"Mad respect for this couple having blatant sex on the #CannesLions red carpet just now," David Griner, the managing editor of digital for Adweek tweeted. Griner also gratuitously shared a faraway photo of the couple in the heated moment with one person straddling the other. Hilariously, an official festival poster hovered in the frame with the words, "Will see you in the morning!"

However, some festival-goers were skeptical about the reality of the two actually sleeping together on the red carpet. Occurring about a month after the famous film festival, Cannes Lions is an annual event that attracts creative and advertising types from around the world, which prompted some to wonder whether the shot was a publicity stunt.
"We're gonna feel like idiots when we find out this is a staged marketing stunt," Twitter user Cole Orloff wrote in response to Griner, whose update has since been retweeted 330-plus times.
Another person noted that Griner broke what is presumably the biggest story from Cannes Lions thus far, prompting the editor to reply on Wednesday: "Just have to be in the right place at the right time…when people start humping on the red carpet. #CannesLions."
He added in another tweet, "I’m just glad I could share this magical moment with the world. #CannesLions."
