Yolanda Foster and David Foster put up a united front when they announced their divorce on Dec. 1, but behind the scenes, they were split on what to do with their marriage, a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 51, wanted to work on the problems in their relationship, but the Grammy-winning music producer, 66, seems to have felt differently and pushed to announce their breakup. “It didn’t make sense to stay together,” the insider tells Us, adding that their union “wasn’t a marriage.”
As previously reported by Us, things became “rocky” in their marriage after the former model fell ill with Lyme disease in 2012, one year after their nuptials. “She just felt he wasn’t there for her when she needed him most and he felt the same,” a source previously told Us. “It’s so sad, but the illness really did come between them.”
The couple’s split came as a surprise to many, including her RHOBH castmates. “I’m still really shocked about it,” Eileen Davidson told Us at the show’s Season 6 premiere party in Hollywood. “I have seen her and David together in the last season a few times, and it seemed fine.”
“I thought they were a really lovely couple. It’s very upsetting,” Lisa Vanderpump added.
