Former Deadliest Catch star Jake Harris was beaten and robbed after leaving Quil Ceda Creek Casino in Marysville, Washington, Saturday, November 12, according to the New York Daily News.
Fellow passengers inside a car with the fisherman allegedly grabbed Harris from behind and threw him from the moving vehicle, authorities in Everett, Washington, told the newspaper. The Discovery Channel personality blacked out from the fall and woke up on the side of a highway with his wallet and $2,400 in cash missing, police said.
A witness in another car called 911 for Harris, but he declined the offer to seek medical treatment. His girlfriend later brought him to a nearby hospital.
Harris’ brother, Josh Harris, detailed the horrific incident in two Facebook Live videos he posted on the Deadliest Catch F/V Cornelia Marie account. In the videos, he said that Jake is currently in the intensive care unit with a cracked skull and brain trauma.
“My brother was jumped last night and some individuals decided to beat him pretty good, which is a terrible, terrible thing,” Josh said in his first video from Sunday, November 13. “Some individuals beat him to the point where it cracked his skull from his forehead all the way back to where you would be balding as an individual.”
In the second video from Monday, November 14, Josh added, “He’s pretty messed up. Hopefully, one day, we’ll get him back fishing again.”
According to the Spokesman-Review, Jorel M. Fultz, 29, and Amanda R. Ritter, 30, were arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery Tuesday, November 15.
