Cheers to six years! While Hollywood’s elite was celebrating the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 10, Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama were enjoying a much more personal milestone.
The “Confident” singer, 23, first shared a sweet black-and-white photo of herself lying in bed with her That ’70s Show boyfriend, 35, with the caption, “6.”
She then posted a collage of photos via Instagram of the duo from 2010 to 2016. The adorable snaps documented the pair’s lengthy romance.
The couple started dating when Lovato was just 17 and getting ready to enter rehab for substance abuse and mental health disorders.
In her September cover story for Cosmopolitan, Lovato revealed that her brief splits with Valderrama early in their relationship were her own fault.
“The only times we ever broke up were when I was relapsing, whether it was drugs or in a bad place and rebelling against everybody, not just him,” Lovato recalled. “People say that relapses happen before you use. Your mind starts setting up the relapse before you take that drink or that first hit. The times we’d broken up, I had already gone to that place of, ‘Yeah, this is what’s happening.’ I didn’t realize it at the time, but I just wanted to sabotage everything around me so that I could sabotage myself.”
These days their relationship seems to be flourishing, with both stars serving as support systems for each other. After remaining relatively private for the first few years of their romance, Lovato and Valderrama have recently become increasingly public about their affection.
“We don’t share everything with the world. But we do feel comfortable to share a lot,” the Disney alum told Us Weekly in August. “With Wilmer and I and our relationship, he’s extremely supportive in everything that I do. He makes me feel confident and beautiful. And I’m just really, really grateful for him.”
