Donald Trump Hopes Hillary Clinton ‘Gets Well Soon’ After Pneumonia Diagnosis

Donald Trump reacted to Hillary Clinton’s recent pneumonia diagnosis during a Monday, September 12, interview with CNBC’s Squawk Box. During the chat, the Republican presidential nominee, 70, called the former first lady’s health issues “quite sad” and said that he hopes she “gets well soon.”

Despite his well wishes, Trump acknowledged Clinton’s health with slight skepticism. “It’s interesting because they say pneumonia, but she was coughing very, very badly a week ago,” the ex–Celebrity Apprentice host said. “It’s very interesting to see what’s going on.”

As previously reported, Clinton, 68, left a September 11 memorial service after she grew faint in the late summer heat. After footage emerged of the Democratic presidential nominee wobbling as she entered a van to make her exit, it was revealed that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday, September 9. The former secretary of state canceled a fundraising trip to California planned for Monday and Tuesday so she could recuperate.

“It is a very tough schedule. You go from one city, you go to Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida, you know, all over,” Trump admitted of the hard work that goes into a presidential campaign. “It’s grueling work. There’s no question about it.”

The real estate tycoon turned politician added: “I saw what was going on with her and I said, ‘You know, I’m going to go do something,’ and I actually took a physical last week and probably, I guess this week, will release the results of it.”

For her part, Clinton told CNN on Monday evening that her health has improved and said that she didn’t think pneumonia would interfere with her busy campaign schedule.

“I’m feeling so much better and obviously I should have gotten some rest sooner,” she said, explaining that her doctor had previously advised her to rest for five days. “I probably would have been better off if I’d just pulled down my schedule on Friday but like a lot of people, I just thought I could keep going forward and power through it and obviously that didn’t work out so well.”
