Dorit Kemsley is looking back at the difficult way she found out about her separation from estranged husband Paul “PK” Kemsley after 10 years of marriage.
“PK, he had gotten sober. He was four months sober. He was really committed, felt like this was something that was overdue,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 49, said during the Tuesday, May 26, episode of the “LadyGang” podcast.
Dorit continued, “He had a sponsor because it was a journey of sobriety, and he had a sober coach, if you will. You go through steps [in the] process. I mean, there’s all kinds of things that anyone that’s been through sobriety knows, and he was working on those things with him.”
Dorit recalled sitting down with PK, 58, and his sober coach in her backyard cabana.
“His sober coach says, ‘Listen, I think you guys should maybe take some time apart and separate.’ And I remember immediately looking at PK, expecting him to be like, ‘Hey,’ something. And he was just absolutely dead silent, like sort of looking off to the side,” she explained.
The reality star added, “He put it off on someone else to deliver the information to me, and he was dead silent the whole time. Just looked off into the gates and let this sober coach essentially let me know that we’re separating.”
Dorit said the fact that she wasn’t hearing about the separation from PK himself was “almost harder than the actual news itself.”
Dorit and PK confirmed their separation in May 2024 amid rumors that they had split.
“We as a couple have been subject to a lot of speculation about our marriage,” the exes, who share son Jagger, 12, and daughter Phoenix, 11, wrote via Instagram.
The statement continued, “We have had our struggles over the last few years and continue to work through them as two people who love each other and share two amazing children together. To safeguard our deep friendship and maintain a harmonious environment for our children we have made the mutual and difficult decision to take some time apart and reevaluate our relationship while we prioritize our children. We appreciate your love and support while we continue to do the work necessary throughout this journey.”
Dorit filed for divorce nearly one year later, citing irreconcilable differences. She requested sole legal and physical custody of the kids and asked for spousal support. In a response to the filing, PK waived his right to spousal support and asked the court to terminate Dorit’s spousal support request. He also requested that both parties cover their own attorney fees.
At BravoCon in November 2025, Dorit exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about coparenting with PK.
“We need to be able to prioritize our children,” she said. “I’m hoping that at some point things will become a little bit less challenging.”
PK also opened up about their split during an April appearance on the “We Need to Talk” podcast.
“I’m not blaming that show [for] my divorce or my relationship or who I think Dorit is now versus who I think she was, or who I am now,” he said. “I think the biggest question that I have that will never be answered is that, is Dorit, where she was always going to be and always going to end up, or was I responsible for putting her in that world and then that world created what happened now?”
PK added that it was his idea for Dorit to join RHOBH season 7 in 2016 after the couple moved to Los Angeles.
“The show likes to go back and only talk about bad things,” he continued. “They build up this vision of who you are as a person, as a couple, and then you start repeating it, you start believing it, and suddenly you find yourself [saying], ‘What are you talking about? I’m nothing like that guy. I’m nothing like the person they’re showing.’ And I’m looking at my wife and saying, ‘Who are you?’ It’s scary when you look at it.”
