AubRih fans, rejoice. Drake showed off some fresh ink on his right forearm at the New Orleans stop of his Summer Sixteen tour on Friday, September 2: a tiny camo shark that matches Rihanna’s new tattoo.
Eagle-eyed fans took note of the unique ink, which is an exact replica of the ankle tattoo that RiRi, 28, got on Thursday, September 1. The cartoon shark is a nod to a stuffed toy that Drake, 29, once gifted her.
The pair, who have collaborated on numerous tracks, including this year’s hit “Work,” stirred up rumors that their on-again, off-again romance is most definitely on again this past week.
On Sunday, August 28, the rapper showered Rihanna with praise at the MTV VMAs while presenting her with the Video Vanguard Award, declaring that she was “one of [his] best friends in the world” and “someone [he’s] been in love with since [he] was 22 years old.”
The Barbadian beauty blushed and giggled while she was onstage, and on Friday, September 2, she took to Instagram to thank her fans for their support — and specifically gave a shout-out to Drake for his glowing introduction.
“@champagnepapi your speech was so touching and I love you for that!” she wrote in a lengthy Instagram caption. “All in all … Best night ever!!! I’m a lucky girl!!! To God be the Glory!”
The duo continued to fuel speculation about their relationship status as they held hands at a VMAs afterparty and kissed onstage during Drake’s Miami stop of the Summer Sixteen tour on Wednesday, August 31.
Then, on Thursday, NYC tattoo artist Bang Bang shared a black-and-white image of Rihanna’s new permanent ink.
“Camo shark for my dear friend @badgalriri,” he captioned the image. “Also … I just found out you can zoom on IG – enjoy :)”
