Dancing With the Stars personalities Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are relocating from Los Angeles to Florida.
“Something new is never easy,” Murgatroyd, 39, captioned a travel vlog shared via Instagram on Monday, June 29. “There are tears you don’t expect, goodbyes that hit harder than you imagined, and moments where you wonder if you’re making the right decision.”
She continued, “But sometimes you have to leave what’s comfortable to find what’s meant for you.”
Murgatroyd noted that the move was “the best decision” for their family. She wrote that their sons — Shai, 9, Rio, 3, and Milan, 11 months — are “so happy” with the change.
“Our hearts are full, and we’re incredibly grateful for this new chapter,” Murgatroyd concluded her caption. “Goodbye LA. Hello Florida.”
Both Chmerkovskiy, 46, and Murgatroyd got emotional in their moving video, shedding tears as they drove away from their California home.
Murgatroyd told fans that they were gearing up for “new beginnings” and showed clips of their sons helping her and Chmerkovskiy pack their L.A. home.
“Guys, so good,” Murgatroyd could be heard telling her sons in the background. “Thank you.”
Murgatroyd, “Do you know, guys, we’re always going to remember this summer? The summer we moved to Florida.”
While the emotions were fresh, the couple also shared a happier video with a sign reading, “We moved to Florida!!!”
Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy — who have been married since 2017 — danced around their new backyard while playing with their kids in the clip. The couple shared a sweet kiss at the end of the video.
“Home,” Murgatroyd wrote alongside the video. “We did it … we moved to Florida. Leaving behind the place we’d called home for so many years wasn’t easy, but sometimes the biggest leaps lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.”
She added, “The happiness, the slower pace, the sunshine, watching our boys love every second of it … it’s everything we hoped for and more. Worth every box. Every goodbye. Every unknown. No looking back … only looking forward.”
Chmerkovskiy also shared an Instagram Story alongside son Rio on Monday, showing off the new state they call home.
“It’s when he says, ‘Ready to go home’ for me!” he captioned the cute video, which showed Rio walking their family’s dog and playing in a sprinkler. “The feeling of accomplishment I’m feeling is insane!”
He concluded, “Every boy parent will understand!!!!”
