As stars arrived on the red carpet outside of the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles for the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 20, many were sporting green ribbons.
Though non-designer accessories were worn by Best Actor Emmy winner Jeffrey Tambor and his Transparent costar Gaby Hoffmann, the cause had nothing to do with transgender rights.
The green ribbons were created to demand climate action. They support the EPA and President Barack Obama's climate change plan.
The Natural Resources Defense Council's official Twitter account tweeted, "Thanks to @jeffreytambor, @OfficialJLD, Louis C.K., @IamDonCheadle and others for supporting climate action!"
The ribbons could be confused with last year's ribbons, which were worn for the Green Ribbon Campaign to support discussions about mental health.
