Giada De Laurentiis is going to have to pay up to her ex-husband, Todd Thompson. According to TMZ, the Food Network star has finalized her divorce with Thompson, but they didn’t have a prenup, meaning he will benefit thanks to Laurentiis’ empire.
According to court documents, the Italian chef has to pay Thompson, a designer for Anthropologie, $9,000 a month in child support. They share joint custody of their 7-year-old daughter, Jade Marie. Thompson, who is worth an estimated $15 million, gets to keep their $3.2 million home in the Pacific Palisades, $300,000 in art and furnishings, as well as his membership to the Bel-Air Bay Club.
De Laurentiis gets all rights to an untitled cookbook she’s producing as well as her production company Linguine Productions and GDL Foods, Inc. However, because they didn’t have a prenup, she has to give Thompson 50 percent of unpaid advances to her various cookbooks, including previously published books such as a $2.5 million balance for Giada at Home and Weeknights with Giada.
The former couple are dividing other various bank accounts, and neither will receive spousal support.
The foodie announced on her website in December that they were calling it quits after 11 years of marriage. "After an amicable separation since July, Todd and I have decided to end our marriage," the celebrity chef wrote. "Although our decision to separate comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus on the future and overwhelming desire for our family's happiness has given us the strength to move forward on separate, yet always connected paths."
