This teenage dream is over. Gigi Hadid and boyfriend Cody Simpson have split after dating for nearly one year, the singer's rep confirms to Us Weekly.
The news of their split comes just one week after the "Surfboard" crooner, 17, dished to Us in an exclusive interview about working with Hadid, 18, in the music video for his new song. "I try to keep my personal life and my public life separate, but I was like, 'Why not kind of mix the two?'" Simpson explained to Us.
Simpson added that things got so steamy on set that "they honestly had to tell us to stop [kissing] after they cut."
Sources close to the couple cite hectic schedules and career ambitions as factors in their breakup. "Both of their schedules were too crazy," one source tells Us. "They had different priorities."
A second insider tells Us that Cody initiated the split because he "needed to experience" life. The Aussie pop star is coming off a hot year: Along with releasing a new hit single, Simpson was most recently a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. (He made it to week five before he was cut.)
Hadid's modeling career has certainly revved up, too. The beautiful daughter of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster and her ex-husband Mohamed Hadid most recently made her debut as a 2014 Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.
