Gracie Abrams and Taylor Swift are still on good terms.
Abrams, 26, put feud rumors to rest when she praised Swift, 36, during a Thursday, August 20, episode of the “Therapuss” podcast, gushing that her Eras Tour was a “masterclass.”
“You get to watch this titan of the industry, top down, make the experience for every single person who ever attended,” Abrams gushed. “Every single person who works to make it happen, the best version of the experience that it could be.”
She praised Swift’s work ethic, saying, “I learned on a personal level that the show always goes on no matter what.” Abrams explained, “You would never know if she was sick. You would never know if her heart was aching. She’s just giving it everything and doing it with grace and warmth.”
Abrams also gushed, “She’s just this fiercely brilliant, singular kind of alien. But she’s a person.”
Abrams’ comments come after fans wondered if she and Swift were at odds when she posted a recap from the Grammy winner’s wedding extravaganza with Travis Kelce. In one slide, Abrams posted a screenshot of Swift’s ex, Joe Alwyn, lunging for Emma Stone while acting in The Favourite.
Fans were quick to raise their eyebrows in the comments section, writing, “The screen capture of Joe Alwyn from The Favourite in the same carousel as the outfit you wore to Taylor Swift’s wedding is crazyyyyy (I say this with love) 😭😭😭😭😭.” Another added, “Not congratulating Taylor – but posting her ex?”
Others thought the moment was no big deal and pointed out that Abrams’ boyfriend, Paul Mescal, is friends with Alwyn, 35, whom Swift dated from 2016 to 2023. “Y’all do realize Paul is friends with Joe, who is Gracie’s bf. Also, it’s just a photo dump,” a follower wrote. A second commented, “Can Swifites touch grass?”
Fans previously wondered if Abrams’ song “Death Wish,” which is about a person’s “power trips” and “light” that “burns through people,” was about Swift.
Her songwriter Aaron Dessner quickly shut down the speculation and told Billboard that the song was “definitely not” about Swift. “It was written at a time when [Gracie] was writing about a friend’s ex, being in a bad relationship,” he explained. “So it was kind of about that person, I think. I wouldn’t even actually know who that person was.”
Swift and Abrams have been friends for years now. Abrams opened for a number of Swift’s Eras Tour and even joined her on stage in June 2023 while performing in Cincinnati. Abrams also released a song featuring Swift on her 2024 album the Secret of Us, titled “Us.”
