Coming clean. Gwen Stefani opened up to Apple Radio Beats 1 DJ Zane Lowe on Monday, Nov. 2, telling him about her upcoming “honest record” after her split from ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.
“I think I have enough probably for two albums,” the Voice star, 46, told Lowe. “I got 20 songs. I want to keep writing.”
The No Doubt singer revealed that before her split from her husband of 13 years, she “felt like she had been living in a cocoon, ready to bust out,” which prevented her from writing and recording new music.
“You have to understand how much I couldn’t write,” the “Used to Love You” singer said. “And then all of a sudden, I’m writing, writing, writing.”
The newly single mother of three said her latest single was inspired by her painful split, and that she plans to release her still-untitled third solo album next year. On Monday, she echoed how inspired and liberated she felt, post-divorce, to her fellow Voice star Carson Daly.
“My life is so extreme right now,” the songstress said on 97.1 AMP Radio. “My life basically blew up in my face. I’m so inspired. Everything just feels new. I just feel inspired. I don’t know how else to describe it.
Last week, Stefani told Us Weekly about what she calls her “spiritual exercising” that recently she’s adopted.
“I’ve been working on my spiritual exercising and like really trying to connect, and be grateful and considerate, and living in the present,” she said.
Stefani and Rossdale, 50, split this past August after 13 years of marriage. They share three children together — Kingston, 9, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, 20 months.
