The reported fender-bender occurred weeks after Blanchard’s former partner Ken Urker was found dead on his 34th birthday. (Urker is survived by the exes’ 16-month-old daughter, Aurora, in addition to his parents and siblings.)

“Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved,” Blanchard wrote in a social media statement on October 1, addressing Urker’s death. “He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.”

She continued at the time, “Above all, Ken loved our daughter, Aurora. She is a beautiful reflection of his enduring spirit, and through her, a part of him will always remain with us. I will make sure she grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her and who he was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved and never forgotten.”

A cause of death has not been publicly shared pending an ongoing investigation.

Blanchard, who claimed that Urker was cyberbullied before his death, has since vowed to “turn pain into purpose” to combat online harassment.

“I only have my daughter and my voice. In honor of Ken, I am asking for your support for Kenan’s Law,” she wrote via Instagram days later, introducing proposed new legislation. “Kenan’s Law is about changing the way social-media platforms handle repeated reports of harassment. One post viewed alone may not tell the whole story — but hundreds of posts, videos and comments directed at one person can reveal a pattern that deserves meaningful review.”

She added, “I cannot change what happened, but I can advocate for a better system for the next person who feels like no one is listening. … Fame does not erase humanity. A pattern cannot always be understood one post at a time.”
