Where there’s smoke, there’s…Halle Berry and Tom Hanks?

Chatting with Jay Leno on the Tonight Show Oct. 22, Berry addressed rumors that she and Hanks, her co-star in the new film Cloud Atlas, had gotten high together on set.

“I read this week that you smoked pot with Tom Hanks!” Leno joked. “What is that? The All-American Boy Tom Hanks!”

Gorgeous as ever in an asymmetrical grey dress and glittery Christian Louboutins, the Oscar-winning star playfully avoided answering the question, instead grilling Leno on his own history with cannabis.

“Have you ever smoked pot?” she teased. “Come on, Jay, sometimes you smoke some pot.”

Leno denied ever getting high, saying he was usually the designated driver, and then asked the star again if she had smoked with the You’ve Got Mail actor, 56, during filming.

“I did. I smoked pot with Tom Hanks…in this movie,” Berry, 46, finally conceded, referring to a scene in the epic, surreal film in which her character does drugs with Hanks’ character.

The actress was a good sport throughout the interview, chatting happily with Leno about her 4-year-old daughter Nahla (whose father is model Gabriel Aubry), her Halloween plans, and her family ties to Sarah Palin.

“I mean, isn’t that just the worst? Some [genealogist] called me up and said, ‘Just so you know, you’re related to Sarah Palin,” she explained of how she learned of the connection to the former Republican vice presidential candidate. “But also — and I really love this one — I’m related to Aretha Franklin somehow.”

Berry did not speak about her engagement to actor Olivier Martinez, whom she has been dating since late 2010.
