Secret’s out! Days after Us Weekly confirmed that Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson have been secretly dating for at least six months, both actresses attended the Broadway premiere of School of Rock the Musical on Sunday, Dec. 6, where Taylor opened up about her significant other.
While the two women showed up together on Sunday night, they walked the red carpet separately. On the carpet, Taylor told reporters that she was surprised by the attention her relationship was garnering — particularly their recent Twitter exchange. “People should be interested in their own lives,” Taylor, 72, joked. Paulson posted her Broadway ticket stub from Ripcord earlier that day and wrote to her girlfriend: “@HollandTaylor You sure are a genius. #favoriteactress.” Naturally, the Internet went crazy.
Hours later, the Two and a Half Men alum praised her girlfriend, 40, on the red carpet with Us. “She’s a wonderful person and a brilliant actress!” the Legally Blonde star said. Meanwhile, Paulson was slightly more coy about her romantic partner.
“I don’t know why anybody wants to know about it at all — what’s so fascinating about it?” the American Horror Story actress speculated. “I don’t know. To me, it feel a little — what’s all the hubbub about? I get it to a degree but then on some other level I think it’s sort of silly.”
Taylor confirmed late last month in a radio interview that she is gay and dating a significantly younger woman, but refused to name the mystery lady. “There’s a very big age difference between us,” Holland told WNYC on Nov. 25. “Which I’m sure shocks a lot of people, and it startles me. But you know, it’s not a statement original to me — I’ve heard it as a joke once in my past, but as they say, ‘If she dies, she dies.’ … She thought it was funny when I said it too.”
Us Weekly confirmed that the pair have been together for at least half a year and their relationship is steaming up, as Taylor hinted herself to WNYC.
“I’ve never lived for a long period of time with anyone, I mean, sort of, really linking my life to someone else, that has never been the way I have lived,” she reflected to the radio program. “And it’s somewhat the way I’m living now and at my age it’s quite interesting. It’s quite a learning curve. Cause I’m in that sort of relationship now. And I’m lucky to have the opportunity.”
