Honey Boo Boo’s Family in Car Accident

Honey Boo Boo's family was involved in a serious car accident on Monday

It sounds like somebody better do a better job redneck-ognizing … the rules of defensive driving!

The Thompson family, better known as the clan behind TLC's "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," was involved in a serious car accident Monday night near their home in Milledgeville, Georgia. Sugar Bear was driving, and Mama June, Honey Boo Boo, Pumpkin, and Jessica were all in the vehicle at the time of the collision. Fortunately, though, no one seems to have been hurt too badly.

According to the police report, obtained by "The Insider," Sugar Bear claims he was hanging a left turn around 8 p.m. when his vehicle collided with a car coming straight from the other direction. Both drivers said they had a green light, but Sugar Bear noted that he did not have a turn arrow. Sugar Bear and his front-seat passenger (June) claim that they didn't see the car traveling towards them because the driver's headlights weren't on.

The other driver claimed that his headlights should've come on automatically and that they were working earlier in the night. Damage to both vehicles was reported as moderate.

While Mama June complained of back pain, she refused treatment on the scene. The rear driver's side passenger — which appears to have been Pumpkin — also had a complaint of shortness of breath. She was treated on scene by EMS and released.

TMZ, which first reported the news of the accident, adds that the family later drove themselves to a local hospital and that several of them complained about injuries ranging from a contusion on Sugar Bear's back, to severe chest bruises and panic attacks for Pumpkin.

Mama June told the site, "We've only had that Suburban for six months and it's not even paid off yet."

On Tuesday, June issued the following statement: "As many of you have heard we were in a car accident last night. It was really scary for us, since it was the first time any of us had ever been in a wreck.

"We are definitely really sore today, but our top priority is to celebrate Pumpkin's birthday. She turned 14 today and no matter how sore we feel we are going to go out and celebrate. As always we want to thank everyone for their support and well wishes."
