Jessica Simpson’s bizarre behavior during a Sept. 17 appearance on the Home Shopping Network had nothing to do with intoxicants, HSN president Bill Brand said in a recent interview.
“Of course she wasn’t drunk,” Brand told Entertainment Tonight when asked about the episode, which went viral when Twitter users noted the singer-turned-designer seemed a tad loopy and confused. “[She was] a top-notch professional.”
“She was here. She was thrilled to be here,” he said of Simpson, 35, who was touting her new 10th anniversary collection. “I can tell you our team loved working with her.”
On Thursday, Sept. 17, Simpson created a stir only when she got giggly during the two-and-a-half segment with Colleen Lopez, wobbling on her feet and slurring her words at certain points.
“Ashlee is like the best at wearing gray,” she said while introducing her “Kiss Me” super skinny gray jeans. “My sister. Like, she’s very rock ’n’ roll, but there’s something about a gray that’s, like, sexy. Maybe it’s her and her husband [Evan Ross], they share jeans, I have no idea. I don’t know. There’s just something hot about them.”
Simpson stepped away from the camera at a few points throughout the live TV marathon, and her mother, Tina Simpson, made an appearance later on too.
