Since news broke Monday that George Clooney and Stacy Keibler broke up after two years together, everyone's been wondering what caused the breakup.
Was it Stacy's need for kids and marriage? Dry spells? Distance?
"It certainly wasn't as dramatic as people are making it out to be," one insider tells omg!.
Another source confirms that Clooney, 52, and Keibler, 33, did indeed break up over the phone (as reported Wednesday), but that's simply because the former couple has been apart for months.
"How else would it have happened?" the second source tells omg!. "That was the root of the problem – distance. George has been in Europe while Stacy has been working in L.A. It was a mature conversation."
Both insiders insist the root of the split had nothing to do with the "Supermarket Superstar" host's desire for marriage.
"Reports Stacy got fed up, holding out hope that George would want to get married one day or have children just simply aren't true," continues omg!'s first source.
Like several Hollywood couples that have bit the dust, Clooney and Keibler have vowed to remain friends.
