Although acting genes ran through George Clooney‘s blood with actress/singer Rosemary Clooney is his aunt — it took him a string of commercials and bit parts on shows including The Golden Girls before Clooney became one of the most admired actors of our time.
Clooney’s first major role came in 1994 when he landed the role as Dr. Ross on the NBC drama ER. Since this groundbreaking role, Clooney has starred in numerous hit films, becoming a Hollywood heartthrob and one of film’s most distinguished leading men. He is the only person in Academy Award history to be nominated for Oscars in six different categories: Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Most recently, Clooney was seen in Money Monster (2016), Hail, Caesar! (2016), Tomorrowland (2015), Gravity (2013) and The Descendants (2011).
Clooney’s also been acknowledged for his work behind the camera, winning 2012 Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for the film Argo. He also won a supporting Oscar for his role in 2005’s Syriana.

In June 2011, he split with Italian model Elisabetta Canalis after two years of dating. In July 2011, Clooney started dating WWE’s Stacy Keibler, but they split in July 2013. Clooney married British-Lebanese human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin in September 2014.
