About

Leonardo DiCaprio was raised in California and took on his first acting role at the age of 5, when he appeared on the television show Romper Room and Friends in 1979. Following his debut, DiCaprio found great success early in his career and was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in 1993’s What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?

In 1996, DiCaprio starred opposite Claire Danes in Baz Luhrmann‘s Romeo + Juliet before becoming an international icon with his role in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic. After starring in films such as The Beach (2000) and Celebrity (1998), he was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2007 for his work in both Blood Diamond and The Departed.

DiCaprio has continued to be one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men and has starred in a variety of films including Inception, The Great Gatsby, The Wolf of Wall Street and The Revenant.

He has been nominated for a best actor Academy Award five times, winning his first in 2016 for his portrayal of real-life frontiersman Hugh Glass in The Revenant.

Additionally, DiCaprio is a noted environmentalist. In 1998, he started his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, a nonprofit organization that focuses on raising awareness about environmental issues.

In 2006, he began dating Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli, whom he met one year after he ended a serious relationship with model Gisele Bündchen. DiCaprio split with Refaeli in the spring of 2011, then briefly dated actress Blake Lively. Since then, he has dated a string of models, including Alyce Crawford, Erin Heatherton, Madalina Ghenea, Nina Adgal, and Toni Garrn. Since 2017, the Oscar winner has been in a relationship with Camila Morrone.

DiCaprio is also a prolific producer, having cofounded the production company Appian Way in 2001. In addition to producing some of the films he’s acted in, the company is also behind films and TV shows including Robin Hood (2018), Richard Jewell (2019), and Shining Girls (2022).
