Patrick Muldoon was widely known for his work on screen, but there was far more to his story beyond acting.

“I like to think of myself as a guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously but always takes the fun seriously,” Muldoon shared in a statement via his website prior to his death in April 2026. “Whether I’m dodging explosions, saving Christmas, or just popping up in unexpected places, I’m here to entertain, surprise, and maybe make you laugh. So, grab some popcorn and let’s have some fun — it’s Muldoon time.”

Fans are mourning the loss of the beloved soap star and celebrating his legacy following news that Muldoon died after suffering a heart attack. He was 57.

Viewers were introduced to Muldoon on Days of Our Lives where he originated the role of Austin Reed. He later starred in Melrose Place, Starship Troopers as well as multiple Hallmark movies and more. While Muldoon had a passion for acting, he also enjoyed working behind the scenes as a producer and performing music.

Patrick Muldoon Was a Musician

In addition to acting, Patrick Muldoon had a passion for singing. He was the lead singer for the band The Sleeping Masses. The group also included Neil Graham Ives. They released their self-titled album in 2006 followed by Become Everything in 2009. The group’s biggest song was “The Woman is the Way” which was featured in the 2009 movie Powder Blue and on an episode of The Hills.

The Sleeping Masses did not release new music together after their second album. However, Muldoon and Ives teamed up again in 2025 to release a joint EP titled Gray Again. The duo’s music was featured on Muldoon’s former costar and friend Denise Richards’ reality series Denise Richards & Her Wild Things.

That same year, Muldoon dropped his first solo single “I Believe.”

Patrick Muldoon Was a Producer

While Patrick Muldoon rose to fame for his acting career, he also enjoyed working behind-the-scenes. After starring on Melrose Place, Muldoon got an exclusive development deal with Spelling Entertainment, which created the iconic drama amongst other shows. Muldoon worked as a programming coproducer for the media company.

Muldoon helped develop the USA Petite Model Show which was created by model Ann Lauren. He also produced and starred in Badge of Honor.

Days before his unexpected death, Muldoon revealed that he was going to be executive producing the upcoming film Kockroach, which is based on William Lashner novel of the same name.

“So excited to be a part of this amazing project KOCKROACH directed by Matt Ross starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Edgerton, [Zazie] Beetz And Alec Baldwin,” he wrote via Instagram in April 2026. “Filming now in Australia.”

Patrick Muldoon Worked for a Startup Media Company

Patrick Muldoon was the Head of Development at the media company Storyboard. According to the company’s website, Storyboard works with its partners to develop, finance, produce, market & distribute, theatrical, VOD and new media projects. Past films they’ve worked on include Dirty Hands, Riff Raff, Arkansas, A Great Divide, Marlowe, Spinning Gold and more.

Muldoon’s colleague Elisabeth Costa de Beauregard Segel, who serves as Storyboard’s ​President of Global Sales and Distribution, reacted to the news of Muldoon’s death.

“We are gutted. He was the most amazing human. Heaven got another angel far too soon,” Costa de Beauregard Segel told Us Weekly in an April 2026 statement.
