After a decades-long career in film and television, Robert Wagner now lives a quiet life out of the spotlight.
The actor rose to fame in the 1952 biographical drama With a Song in My Heart, followed by 1953’s Titanic and The Frogmen and 1954’s Prince Valiant. He soon ventured into TV, starring in It Takes a Thief (1968–1970) as Alexander Mundy and in Hart to Hart (1979–1984) as Jonathan Hart. Wagner’s later TV roles include Two and a Half Men (2007–2008) and NCIS (2010–2019).

Wagner currently lives a fairly private life in Aspen, Colorado, where he moved after leaving Los Angeles in 2007.
“I think that what has happened in regard to celebrities, you can’t move,” Wagner told The Desert Sun in 2017 while discussing modern fame versus when his career started. “You can go to dinner and know how it tasted the next morning by the Internet. It’s just amazing what goes on. Everybody’s got a camera. Whatever you do is down and exploited the next day. It’s pretty intense now.”

Though Wagner never formally stepped away from acting or announced his retirement, he last appeared on TV as Anthony D. DiNozzo Sr. in NCIS in 2019.

Wagner has been married to Jill St. John since 1990.
“36 years of love and laughter with my beautiful Jill. Happy Anniversary, my love 💕,” Wagner wrote via Instagram in May 2026 alongside a photo with St. John.
Wagner also shared a birthday tribute to his wife in August 2026, writing, “Wishing the happiest of birthdays to my beautiful wife Jill. I’m so blessed to love you and to do life with you. Happy Birthday, beautiful 💕.”
Wagner was previously married to Natalie Wood from December 1957 to April 1962. He then tied the knot with Marion Marshall in 1963. Following their divorce in 1971, Wagner remarried Wood, and the pair remained together until Wood’s tragic drowning death in 1981.
“Happy Heavenly 88th Birthday, Nat ❤️ More Than Love,” Wagner wrote via Instagram in July 2026. (Wood died in a boating accident in 1981. She was 43.)

Wagner shared daughter Katie Wagner with Marshall, who died in 2018 at age 89. He is also a father to daughter Courtney Wagner with Wood. Following the Miracle on 34th Street actress’ death, Wagner legally adopted Wood’s daughter Natasha from her marriage to Richard Gregson.
