A video linked to the government of Iran is under investigation after appearing to issue a threat — and detail ways — to assassinate First Lady Melania Trump and her and President Donald Trump’s son, Barron.
On Monday, July 27, a video titled “Where to Kill Melania” was shared by Tasnim News Agency, an entity allegedly linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, per The Independent.
The animated video depicted luxury department stores in New York City allegedly frequented by the first lady, 56. The video also included images of her motorcade. ,
At the end of the video, Barron, 20, is also seemingly threatened with a message that reads, “This is just the beginning. Barron Trump, wait for us.”
The Secret Service, who protects Melania and Barron alongside the president and other vital cabinet members, are aware of the video’s existence.
“The Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” secret service spokesperson Nate Herring told Us in a statement on Wednesday, July 29. “Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”
Us has also reached out to a spokesperson for the White House for further comment.
This is not the first time that the first family has been threatened. Prior to being elected to his second term, an assassination attempt was made on Donald’s life while speaking at a rally held in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024. Donald, 80, was shot and reportedly wounded in his upper right ear. Audience member Corey Comperatore was killed and two other attendees were severely injured.
Authorities later reported that Thomas Crooks fired eight rounds from an AR-15–style rifle from a rooftop across from the rally before he was killed in crossfire with law enforcement.
Earlier this year, shots also broke out at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington D.C. in April. Donald, Melania and press secretary Karoline Leavitt were rushed off stage and evacuated for safety reasons.
“Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely,” Donald wrote via Truth Social at the time. “The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we ‘LET THE SHOW GO ON’ but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again.”
The Correspondents’ Dinner was ultimately postponed and rescheduled for Friday, July 24.
