Is Chris Colfer’s New Young Adult Novel Inspired By His Experiences on Glee?

Chris Colfer

Don’t stop believing! Glee star Chris Colfer has signed a new multi-book agreement to extend his Land of Stories children’s book series. But here’s the best part: the deal also includes a brand-new young adult fiction novel, titled Stranger Than Fan Fiction.

Now that the actor, 25, has officially wrapped up his role on Glee, could this new young adult novel be a tell-all in disguise? The Glee stars were often a hot topic in the media, most notably last year when Colfer revealed that he wasn’t invited to costar Naya Rivera’s wedding. Rivera, who was fired from the show after five seasons, was reportedly the center of the on-set drama, although Lea Michele dispelled these rumors last year on The Late Show with David Letterman.

The young adult title will mark Colfer’s return to the genre, following the 2012 release of Struck By Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal. Stranger Than Fiction is due out in Winter 2017.

The first novel in the Land of Stories series was originally published in July 2012. The fantasy books have been extremely successful thus far, with the fourth and most recent installment debuting at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list this summer. Colfer’s deal will extend the series to a sixth and final book.

“Words can’t describe how wonderful it feels to have such a passionate readership around the world. It still baffles me to think I have books published in countries I’ve never been to,” Colfer said. “I’m so grateful my love for these characters has been shared by so many, and no one is more excited than I am that Alex and Conner’s adventures will continue.”
