Twice as not so nice! An Italian man has apologized to Pope Francis after hanging up on the leader of the Catholic Church not once, but twice.
The man, Franco Rabuffi, thought he was on the receiving end of a cruel joke when the Pope dialed him this week, he told Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano.
The Pope calls strangers who write him about their own personal problems. In this case, the religious leader dialed three times to make sure Rabuffi, who is struggling with an illness, took his call.
"I was speechless," Rabuffi told the paper. "But Francis came to my rescue, saying that what happened was funny."
Rabuffi formally apologized in person to the Pope on Wednesday, April 29, during the Vatican's general audience.
This isn't the first time Pope Francis has made headlines in the last few months for bizarre reasons. In March, the papal leader (a pizza lover just like Us!) received a pizza delivery while riding his Popemobile. The following month, Vatican doctors told the Pope to go on a diet, or rather, to cut back on the pasta.
