Jaime King and ex Austin Sosa have finalized their divorce nearly nine months after their shocking separation.
A Los Angeles judge ruled on Friday, October 2, to dissolve the pair’s marriage, according to court documents obtained by Page Six. Per the outlet, the court also terminated the ability to award King, 47, spousal support.
Further details have not been revealed, while the actress is focused on her next chapter.
“I’m looking ahead with a lot of gratitude and hope,” King told Us in a Saturday, October 3, statement. “My children are my heart and my priority, and this next chapter is really about being present for them, continuing to grow, and embracing the creative and professional opportunities ahead.
News broke in January that Sosa filed for divorce shortly after the duo’s secret wedding. (A source previously confirmed to Us that King and Sosa privately got married before Christmas in December 2025.)
“I was completely blindsided by the divorce filing, which came out of nowhere,” King told Us in a statement after Sosa filed his motion. “I was with Austin the night before it became public, and while like many marriages we had normal challenges, I genuinely believed we were working on our relationship.”
She continued, “My focus right now is my work and, above all, my children. This is deeply personal and should remain private, and I hope people will stop making assumptions, particularly ones that unfairly and disproportionately scrutinize women simply for doing their jobs.”
The Hart of Dixie alum, who shares two sons with ex-husband Kyle Newman, was introduced to Sosa in December 2024 through mutual friends. They got engaged one year later.
“When I saw him, I was like, ‘You’re going to be my boyfriend.’ He’s like, ‘Wait, what?’” King previously told Us in October 2025 of meeting Sosa. “I think it kind of shook him a little bit. And then the second time, I was like, ‘You’re going to be my boyfriend.’ Which is such a silly thing to say. It seems so childish, but I just looked [at him], I was like, ‘Oh, no, that’s going to be my person.’”
King and Sosa had kept much of their courtship under wraps.
“It wasn’t extra. It was just more like, ‘Yeah, we got each other,’ and I think now more than ever, that’s super important,” she told Us last year of Sosa’s proposal. “With everything that’s going on in the world, it’s just like knowing that someone’s got your back and that there’s a promise to take care of each other. I feel like my engagement is to myself, in the best way.
She added at the time, “To me, an engagement is really about a love for oneself. I’m just really excited for this new time in my life. The person that I’m engaged to, I love deeply.”
