Accepting boyfriend of 18 months Justin Theroux‘s proposal Friday — on his 41st birthday — Jennifer Aniston took their romance to the next step, but they weren’t always so open about putting their love on display.
In the above video clip from this past May, Aniston, 43, was so overcome with emotion when receiving her star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame that she hesitantly planted a sweet smooch on Theroux — the first time the duo had been photographed in a liplock since going public with their romance almost a year earlier.
“He’s a charming young man,” Aniston’s father, Days of Our Lives actor John Aniston, told Us Weekly in December 2011, one month after his daughter and Theroux spent Thanksgiving at the home of pal Chelsea Handler. “I think they make a wonderful couple.”
Indeed, Theroux — who met Aniston on the 2007 set of Tropic Thunder — is definitely husband material for Aniston, who was married to Brad Pitt from 2000-2005. (Pitt proposed to longtime love Angelina Jolie earlier this year.)
“He makes her feel safe and secure when she’s with him,” a source tells Us of the actor-screenwriter. “A lot of her insecurities melt away.”
