Katniss, #nofilter! Jennifer Lawrence didn’t hold back when asked about GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump during a recent interview.
“If Donald Trump becomes president, that will be the end of the world,” the Mockingjay Part 2 actress told Entertainment Weekly. Lawrence, 25, wasn’t the only one who had such sentiments, however.
Her Hunger Games costars Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson were both quick to stand by the outspoken actress.
“I’ll back you up on that,” Hemsworth, also 25, said.
“It’s a publicity stunt,” Hutcherson, 22, chimed in, adding, “It can’t be real."
Lawrence also noted that the real estate mogul’s bid for the GOP nomination seems so otherworldly that it might as well be for ratings — a la The Hunger Games’ fictional President Snow.
“I genuinely believe that reality television has reached the ultimate place where now even things like this might just be for entertainment,” she said. “It’s either that or it’s Hillary [Clinton]’s brilliant idea.”
And if there’s one thing that the actress can’t stand, it’s the idea of a president who offends people left and right (Trump has made disparaging comments about women, the Hispanic community, the Asian community, and even fellow candidates since he first announced his decision to run for president in June.)
“I was watching him on the campaign trail and one guy said, ‘I love Donald Trump because he’s saying everything I’m thinking and I just can’t say it because of the PC factor,’” Lawrence said. “And I’m thinking, ‘You are absolutely right. That’s who I want representing my country, somebody politically incorrect. That will be perfect.’”
The 69-year-old Republican front-runner has not yet publicly responded to the Oscar-winning actress’ comments.
