Jennifer Love Hewitt's attempt to score a date with Adam Levine may have backfired.
The single Client List actress, 33, professed her love for the newly single Maroon 5 singer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Thursday, calling him "cute." (Levine, 33, recently split from Victoria's Secret model Anne V, 26.)
Since then, Hewitt has been asked about her celebrity crush to the point of embarrassment. "Everybody is talking about it and Adam Levine will probably never speak to me," the actress said during a radio interview with Texas DJ Bobby Bones Friday. "I feel like I should write him an apology letter on Twitter or something just to say I'm so sorry."
Hewitt added: "I wasn't thinking that it was going to turn into this whole thing and I feel bad. But I was kind of hoping that he would say thanks for at least thinking that he's hot. He is hot!"
Hewitt's star-studded little black book includes Carson Daly, John Mayer, Jamie Kennedy, Alex Beh, Jarod Einsohn, Ben Flajnik and Ross McCall. Levine, meanwhile, has been linked to Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Kirsten Dunst and Maria Sharapova.
