Jimmy Fallon Pretends He’s Donald Trump, Calls Ted Cruz: Watch the Video

The wig and the wall! A bewigged Jimmy Fallon pretended to be Donald Trump on The Tonight Show on Thursday, April 14, and gave a ring to guest Ted Cruz in a laugh-out-loud skit.

The beloved late-night host came up with a clever way to tie in Thursday’s CNN Democratic debate between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. “You’re missing some great stuff,” Fallon told his faux-pponent. “They just nailed Hillary for flip-flopping on trade. She was going back and forth, this way, that way … It was like watching her swipe her Metrocard at the subway!” (The Democratic front-runner struggled to get her card to work at an NYC subway station last week during a photo opportunity.)

Cruz, 45, played along with fake Trump during the conversation as they discussed some highlights from the campaign trail so far. “Oh, I’m the bigger man,” Fallon as Trump said. “With the bigger hands, and the bigger [pauses] … you can’t see me but I’m pointing at my Trump Tower.”

Fallon also came up with his own theory about why Cruz swept Colorado in the state primary. As previously reported, the real Donald Trump erupted this past Monday, April 10, on Fox & Friends after learning that his opponent had won all 34 delegates in the mountainous state. (“I’ve gotten hundreds of delegates more, and we keep fighting, fighting, fighting,” the real estate mogul, 69, said on the broadcast. “And then you have a Colorado where they just get all of these delegates, and it’s not a system.”)

“You know what I think?” Fallon as Trump said on Thursday. “I think the people of Colorado did vote, but they were so high, they completely forgot!”

Fallon went on to make several other outlandish statements, including, “Law spelled backwards is WALLLLL! Huge!” (Trump has memorably repeated that he wants to build a wall at the Mexican border.)

Cruz got in a few one-liners of his own, and poked fun at his comments about “New York values.”

“I love New York City,” the Texas senator said. “It is the greatest city in the world with the best-looking audience members in the world.”
