Joe Perry is on the mend. According to the Hollywood Vampires’ website, the 65-year-old guitar player is expected to recover from his recent health scare.
“The Hollywood Vampires continue their tour starting with July 12, at Fraze Pavillion in Kettering, Ohio,” the band noted. “Joe Perry will rejoin his fellow Vampires on stage again soon.” (The band is a collaboration among Perry, Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp.)
The musician was hospitalized on Sunday, July 10, after collapsing onstage during a performance at the Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk in New York. In footage posted to social media by concertgoers, Perry can be seen sitting down on stage before he eventually stumbled off and collapsed.
A police spokesman confirmed to NBC News that Perry was transported by ambulance from the amphitheater to a nearby hospital and was in stable condition Sunday night. After the scare, bandmate Alice Cooper also confirmed that Perry was in stable condition.
“Thanks to everyone asking about our brother @JoePerry. He is stable right now, with family & is under the best care,” the Hollywood Vampires vocalist, 68, tweeted Sunday night.
On Monday, Cooper also confirmed that the show will go on. “Vampires! Confirmed – We WILL see you in Ohio tomorrow night & for the rest of our dates! Thanks for supporting Joe!” he tweeted.
Perry’s Aerosmith bandmate Tom Hamilton also took to Twitter to give concerned fans an update on the rocker.
“Thankfully, Joe seems to be better than we all first feared,” he tweeted on Monday. “Here's hoping he's back on stage soon doing what he loves to do!”
