Emergency services confirmed to NBC News that an ambulance was called to the Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk around 9:40 p.m. after the 65-year-old guitar player stumbled off stage.

After the gig, rocker Cooper took to Twitter to reassure fans that his musical costar was in a stable condition and was surrounded by his family.

“Thanks to everyone asking about our brother @JoePerry. He is stable right now, with family & is under the best care,” Cooper wrote.

Video of the performance, posted to Instagram and YouTube, shows Perry sitting down halfway through the second song, struggling to perform, and then walking slowly off stage. The band continued their set without him. The scheduled after-show meet-and-greet was canceled.

As news of Perry’s collapse broke, friends took to Twitter to send him notes of support.
