Gaga for Jagger! Joe Simpson can’t stop gushing about his fourth grandchild. Jessica and Ashlee Simpson’s dad opened up about the “Pieces of Me” singer and Evan Ross‘ newborn daughter, Jagger, in a new interview on Thursday, Aug. 13.
“Jagger is precious. She’s quiet and sweet and she’s such a happy baby. She’s barely two weeks old,” Joe, 55, told Entertainment Tonight. “The apple of her papa’s eye.”
He gushed: “I got to take a picture of my little granddaughter the day she was born! In the room with the baby, it was great to watch them have that moment. And, you know, grandparents, we were standing back. What a beautiful thing to watch.”
Joe and his ex-wife, Tina Simpson, weren’t the only grandparents in Ashlee’s delivery room. The proud grandpa revealed that Evan’s mom, legendary singer Diana Ross, was also there to greet her new granddaughter.
“She was there! Yeah, it was beautiful,” Joe said. “She’s a wonderful person and, again, to see the love that she has for her children and now her grandchildren? It’s a wonderful thing to see how Evan became so loving, because you gotta have a mom like that to make you that kind of person.”
Us Weekly confirmed late last month that Ashlee, 30, and the Broken Doll actor, 26, welcomed their first child together. (Ashlee also shares son Bronx, 6, with ex-husband Pete Wentz.)
“She’s beautiful,” Joe added about Jagger to ET. “She looks like her mommy and daddy.”
