Time is precious. Rory Feek shared a new photo on Facebook on Tuesday, January 26, of his wife, Joey, spending quality time with her sister-in-law Marcy and little daughter Indiana.
In the photo, Joey — who is battling terminal cancer — sits in her hospice bed with her smiley 21-month-old girl while Marcy sits beside them.
“… my sister Marcy reminiscing w Joey (and Indy) about how they started the restaurant together nine years ago,” Rory, 49, captioned the photo, referring to their restaurant Marcy Jo’s Mealhouse and Bakery. “What a beautiful blessing Marcy Jo's has been to our family and so many others.”
According to the restaurant’s website, Marcy and Joey opened their Tennessee hot spot in January 2007. “The eatery has quickly become one of the most popular restaurants and music venues in middle Tennessee,” the site boasts.
Joey, 40, has been spending quality time with her family and friends as her health deteriorates. In a January 16 blog post, Rory shared that Joey was “inconsolable” when the time came for her best friend Julie to leave.
“There is a right time to say goodbye. Today isn’t that day,” Rory explained in the post. “Joey’s best friend Julie has been here for a week and was supposed to leave this evening and fly back home to Oregon where she and her husband Joe live. But this morning as I sat beside my wife, and Julie started packing her things … Joey’s tears began to fall.”
As previously reported, Rory revealed that he has no plans on continuing his music career after his wife passes.
The couple’s final studio album, Hymns That Are Important to Us, drops February 12.
