Dreaming with a broken heart! John Mayer, who has many famous ex-girlfriends, wants to settle down. The singer revealed that he’s ready for love during an appearance on the Watch What Happens Live after show on Tuesday, June 28.
“I’m ready to roll. I’m more mature than I’ve ever been,” Mayer, 38, told host Andy Cohen. “The stage is set, but I’m excited for a meet cute at some point. I’m single and I’m excited about the future.”
In the meantime, Mayer has been touring — and spending time with pal Cohen, 48. The two, who both reside in NYC, hit up gay bars together from time to time.
“I can get into it,” Mayer said on WWHL. “Andy is the hottest thing going. When you walk in a gay club with Andy Cohen, he is the Beyoncé of that club. He is unbelievable. I’ve seen celebrity and I’ve seen pull and I’ve seen clout, but you have not seen anything like Andy Cohen walking in.”
Cohen paid the “Gravity” singer the same compliment. “Let me flip that around and say I’ve been to a couple straight bars with that one and I will reverse that equation,” he said. Mayer chimed in: “I do all right.”
Indeed, he does. Mayer most recently dated Katy Perry on and off for three years. The hot and cold relationship ended for good in July 2015, with Perry now dating Orlando Bloom.
Prior to his romance with Perry, Mayer was linked with several musicians and actresses in the business. Some of his other exes include Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Minka Kelly.
Mayer is generally pretty candid about his love life. In 2010, he raised eyebrows when he told Playboy magazine that ex Simpson was “crazy” in bed. “Sexually it was crazy. That’s all I’ll say,” he said at the time. “It was like napalm, sexual napalm. Did you ever say, ‘I want to quit my life and just f—kin’ snort you? If you charged me $10,000 to f–k you, I would start selling all my s–t just to keep f—kin you.'” (The pair dated from 2006 to 2007.)
Mayer sometimes writes about his exes, too. He and Swift, who he briefly dated from 2009 to 2010, took digs at each other in their songs “Dear John” and “Paper Doll,” respectively.
