John Stamos is coming clean. After being arrested for Driving Under the Influence in June 2015, the Fuller House star, 52, made the decision to enter rehab.
“I had a horrific DUI which I’m so embarrassed by,” he admitted during a January 4 appearance on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show. “I could have hurt somebody. It was really stupid and ignorant of me. I hated myself for that. It was a bad, bad thing.”
Shortly after, Stamos entered rehab for a monthlong program. These days he says he’s sober and living the life he’s always wanted to.
“I really don’t have anything to hide anymore,” he told Stern. “My father passed away and I got divorced and it sent me down a wrong path … [My mom’s death] knocked me off … I lost myself. I lost my sense of discipline, which my dad taught me so well. More and more I was just dipping into that dark place. It was getting darker and darker. It stunted my growth emotionally. Maybe I would be married with kids right now.”

And Stamos later admitted to almost having the family he envisioned. Though the known ladies’ man noted “I’m careful and I have been careful,” he also added that once in his late twenties, he got a woman pregnant.
“This was just bad timing,” he said of her subsequent abortion. “It really wasn’t my choice … I think it was sort of a mutual decision.”
The hunky actor noted that despite appearances, he has his share of insecurities.
“I always think that I’m going to be turned down, and that’s the scariest thing for me,” he said. “Yes [I have been turned down] but not a lot.”
